Seeing your stuff makes me miss doing it, I’ve been telling myself that it would get in the way of my graphic design coursework, but I’m still finding the time to play the games! I’ll be back soon, in the meantime, this one’s for you (from Sleeping Dogs).
Great concept - where would you like to head with this, what game-scapes? And would you be interested in building your own digital environments?
Taking photographs is my way of exploring and testing the bounds of digital environments, and it’s the taking that’s an important part of the experience, it crystallises part of the realism of these spaces for me, as does developing film and printing photos. It all adds tangibility, and it’s a great way to play games too!
At the moment I’m interested in getting at some of the photographic styles and techniques that haven’t yet seen action in virtual photography, as well as what styles and techniques can be created through the manipulation of these virtual spaces.
I could try that kind of constructed reality photography, where I made the scenes I wanted to photograph, but if I made my own digital environments it would only be to take them apart and I’d probably want to use them for something other than photography.
